Last Friday, June 27 I went to see Hot Hot Heat at the Roxy with local favorites The Shys (what up boys), and the Deadly Syndrome. They blasted through a grip of songs in the feverishly hot club. But what was really impressive was their cover of the Talking Heads "Pyscho Killer". It started out with the usual bass thumping part that seemed to last for days. But gradually everyone else staggered in until you recognized the tune. They were joined on stage by members of both the Shys and Deadly Syndrome beating on drums, banging on cymbals, singing along, and throwing the stage decorations into the crowd. The band brought new life to the chorus, and chaos back to the song. It had been a while since I'd heard the song, and it was stuck in my head for the next couple days. Well done my friends.
